My Life

My Life

                                                                                                    My Life

This miniature started as a French cheese drying box with screened sides and a center shelf. When I saw it at a William Sonoma outlet store many years ago my first thought was “This would make a great dollhouse room!“ I bought two of them. It then took me over 20 years of moving these boxes from house to house to finally start making them the dollhouse rooms I once envisioned. Originally there was a slatted shelf in the middle and the walls were screened for air circulation. There was also a door that I removed. I replaced the screened walls with foamcore and have used my botanical scans on floor and outside walls. Our friends and family are framed on the wall. The little blue and red rug was made by my mother for one of my daughter's first dollhouses many years ago. I have always wanted a satin chaise to grace my bedroom. Unfortunately it has never happened so I became a huge fan of Petit Princess Chaises that are from the 60’s and luckily still available on Ebay and much more affordable than the real thing.. All the little bits like tea sets, handpainted dishes, caviar and vodka, books and memorabilia have been collected over the years. Some are cherished gifts. I love to collect little things that don’t take up a lot of space and can eventually end up in one of my "rooms."  This piece is autobiographical and the focus is “My Life."
